In their recent updates, The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) urges their clients and potential clients to use correct contact details when applying for social grants.
Sassa is the only agency that is responsible for administration of social grants in South Africa. They are an entity of the Department of Social Development.
Provide correct details
“SASSA clients are requested to please provide correct contact details when applying for a social grant”Reads their message on their social media platforms
The agency continued and said “When applying for social grant kindly provide your correct details such as email address and cellphone number to enable Sassa to better communicate with you”
Why social grants or social assistance?
According to the Western Cape Government website, Social grants are in place to help improve standards of living in society and are given to people who are vulnerable to poverty and in need of state support. These generally include older people, people with disabilities, and people with young children
How to Apply for Social grants?
You may apply for social grants by visiting local branches of the South African Social Security Agency. Make sure you take relevant personal documents to get assistance when applying for social grants.
You may also apply for social grants online on the Sassa website. For SRD Grant applications, you apply on the Sassa SRD website.
