Requirements

• Junior Certificate or STD 08/Grade 10/AET/ABET or equivalent qualification
• Ability to read and write
• Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles
  • Understanding of infection control
  • Familiarity with garden materials
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Awareness of the White Paper on Transformation in the Public Services
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Duties

• Maintain Premises and Surroundings:
  • Clean premises and surroundings
  • Empty dirty bins
• Maintain the Garden:
  • Water the garden
  • Prune and trim flowers and trees
  • Mow the grass
  • Remove weeds and garden refuse
  • Apply insecticides
  • Cultivate soil for trees and flowers
• Maintain Gardening Equipment and Tools:
  • Detect and report malfunctioning equipment and tools
  • Repair minor defects in gardening equipment and tools
• Keep Gardening Materials and Equipment:
  • Clean machines and equipment after use
  • Request gardening materials as needed
