Department of Technical Services

1. Divisional Head: Operation & Maintenance

  • Reference Number: 121/2025
  • Salary: R597,279.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree/BTech in Water Care/Civil Engineering/Community Water and Sanitation or equivalent; Certificate in project management (advantage); 5 years’ experience (3 years in technician position).
  • Key Duties: Manage rural water operations and maintenance; Ensure efficient water supply; Staff management, training, and budgeting; Administrative tasks; Liaison with stakeholders; Compliance with water regulations; Quality control.

2. Engineering Technician (Rebone Satellite)

  • Salary Scale: R540,855.00 – R582,615.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; Diploma in Civil Engineering; 2-3 years’ experience in roads and stormwater; Project management/municipal background (advantage).
  • Key Duties: Conduct road inspections; Develop maintenance plans; Supervise crews and contractors; Ensure compliance with standards.

3. Superintendent (Rebone Satellite)

  • Salary Scale: R466,137.00 – R514,695.00 per annum
  • Requirements: N6 in Civil Engineering + trade test certificate; 1-2 years’ relevant experience in roads and stormwater; Project management/municipal background (advantage); Code B driver’s license.
  • Key Duties: Supervise staff; Implement maintenance plans; Liaise with communities; Control work quality.

4. Artisan (Rebone Satellite)

  • Salary Scale: R411,681.00 – R454,716.00 per annum
  • Requirements: N5 in Civil Engineering + trade test certificate; 1 year relevant experience in roads and stormwater; Code B driver’s license.
  • Key Duties: Pothole patching and surface repairs; Inspect pavement defects; Construct/repair drains, culverts, and structures; Maintain stormwater channels.

5. Heavy Plant Operator (Rebone Satellite) – 4 Posts

  • Salary Scale: R253,599.00 – R284,058.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 8; Operator’s certificate (TLB/grader/excavator); Able to read/write; Code C1+ driver’s license; 9-12 months’ relevant experience.
  • Key Duties: Operate grader, excavator, compactor; Perform earthmoving and landsliding tasks; Keep operation records.

6. Driver (Rebone Satellite) – 5 Posts

  • Salary Scale: R178,491.00 – R196,389.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 10; Valid Code EC/14 driver’s license + PDP; 6-12 months’ driving experience.
  • Key Duties: Drive trucks/vehicles; Ensure work completion and safety; Transport equipment/staff.

7. General Worker (Rebone Satellite) – 5 Posts

  • Salary: R145,092.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 8; Able to read/write; Physically strong; Withstand all weather conditions.
  • Key Duties: Manual tasks (digging trenches, road patching, fixing pavements); Any other reasonable tasks.

8. Engineering Technician – Surface Road Maintenance – 2 Posts

  • Salary Scale: R540,855.00 – R582,615.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; Diploma in Civil Engineering; 2-3 years’ experience in roads and stormwater; Project management/municipal background (advantage).
  • Key Duties: Road inspections; Maintenance planning; Supervise crews/contractors; Ensure compliance.

14. Plant Operator – 3 Posts

  • Salary Scale: R253,599.00 – R284,058.00 per annum
  • Requirements: N3 in Waste Water Treatment + Operators certificate; 9-12 months’ relevant experience.
  • Key Duties: Supervise shifts; Meter reading/control sludge flow; Dispose sludge; Control mechanical equipment.

Department of Corporate Support Services

15. Committee Clerk

  • Salary Scale: R289,953.00 – R329,895.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; Secretarial Diploma or equivalent; 1 year relevant experience.
  • Key Duties: Administrative duties (compile agendas/minutes); Secretarial functions; Document safekeeping/filing; Liaise with councillors/officials.

16. Messenger

  • Salary Scale: R145,092.00 – R148,902.00 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 10; Valid Code C1 driver’s license; 6-12 months’ relevant experience.
  • Key Duties: Messenger services (hand/delivery driving); Transport goods/passengers; Vehicle maintenance.
