Getting your matric results can be a very stressful time for students and their families. One of the stresses you might be having is how can you access your results in a convenient way.
In this article, we will be sharing with you ways in which you can access your matric results vis SMS as well as a few other ways you can gain access to your results that are quick and easy.
How Are Your Matric Results Calculated?
Internal School-based Assessments account for 25% of your final matric result (SBA).
The external final test accounts for the remaining 75% of your final matric result (apart from Life Orientation, which completely relies on internal assessments). This is also known as the portfolio work that you have done throughout the year.
How to get matric results via SMS
The Department of Education will disclose the in early January, with individual results being released on the morning after the results have been released to the schools.
The SABC Education SMS and USSD services are one of the ways students can acquire their grades.
SMS service
Students can provide their ID number and exam number to 35658 through SMS.
To be acceptable, both numbers must have the correct 13 digits that you have registered with. SMS texts cost R1 each text message.
USSD service
Students can register for the USSD service by dialing *120*35658# and entering their ID number and exam number. Students will receive their results per subject once the results are ready.
How Do You Combine Your Matric Results?
Students who took the matriculation exam more than once might seek to have their results combined.
Bring the following documents to the nearest DBE/PED office:
- Your examination results from all sessions.
- A certified copy of the original identity document (ID).
- The payment receipt.
Other Places You Can Find Your Matric Results
1. News24
Your results can be found at http://matricresults.news24.com/ on News24’s Matric Results website. You can register and receive an SMS notification as soon as the results are available.
2. School
Early results will be posted by schools. (Call ahead to confirm their presence.) This is the most enjoyable since classmates can come together to commiserate or celebrate.
3. Newspapers
All major national newspapers will publish the results. Your exam number, which will be used instead of your name, will be used so make sure you know what your exam number is.
4. Online
- Log onto the Department of Education matric results page.
- Please enter your exam number.
- More personal information may be needed.
- Press the search button.
- Your matric results are now displayed.
Where Can I Find My Matric Certificate Online?
You can apply online through the e-Matric e-Re-Issue if you have lost or damaged your original matric certificate, or if you took matric in more than one sitting and want to combine your credits to qualify for a National Certificate, such as a Senior Certificate (SC) or National Senior Certificate (NSC).
