✅ Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following:
- A Senior Certificate / Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- A valid Code B (manual) driver’s licence
- No criminal record (SAPS clearance required)
- Medical certificate (not older than 3 months) confirming fitness for strenuous exercise
- Physically fit to perform strenuous exercise (further State medical tests required)
- Age: Not older than 35 years on the first day of enrolment
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Fit and proper person with good character
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good verbal and written communication
- Strong driving ability
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation
🚨 Duties
As a Provincial Inspector, your responsibilities will include:
- Enforcing Road Traffic, Public Passenger, and Transport legislation
- Managing traffic flow through point duty and traffic control
- Assisting at accident scenes and advising on hazardous locations
- Conducting traffic policing operations (roadblocks, speed testing, patrols)
- Issuing notices, executing arrests, and testifying in court
- Escorting abnormal loads and managing overload control
- Conducting learner and driver licence testing
- Roadworthiness testing of vehicles
- Providing visible traffic control and crime prevention patrols
- Participating in law enforcement projects and special operations
- Maintaining effective administrative procedures
- Complying with the Firearm and Ammunition Act 60/2000
📅 Training and Appointment
- Successful candidates will be appointed as Trainee Provincial Inspectors on a fixed 2-year contract.
- During this period, they must successfully complete the Traffic Officer’s Diploma Course.
- After successful completion, candidates will be employed permanently as Provincial Inspectors (Level 6) with 12 months’ probation.
- Trainees who fail to complete the diploma will have their employment terminated.
