About South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA)
The South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) was founded in 1966 is an organisation that aims to designate, preserve and improve its members’ property benefits within the property industry. SAPOA provides information resources for its members and governments through the collection and distribution of property data and statistics. The association currently holds a small enterprise B-BBEE verification certificate and is a level one contributor.
South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Bursaries
SAPOA Bursary Fund aims to support deserving students who will provide a valuable contribution to the association and its members by awarding educational funding through the SAPOA Bursary Scheme. The recipients of the bursary scheme shall be BBBEE defined Black people including Africans, Coloureds and Indians, who are citizens of the Republic of South Africa.
The following fields of study are accepted by the SAPOA Bursary Fund:
- BSc Property Studies
- BSc Urban and Regional Planning
- BSc Construction Studies
- BCom Finance with Property Valuation and Management as a major
- BSc Quantity Surveying
- BCom Property Valuation and Management
- BSc Town and Regional Planning
- BSc Real Estate
- BSc Property Management
Bursaries will be granted based on academic performance, financial need and availability of funds. Bursary funds are paid directly to institutions and ONLY under exceptional events that the funds will be paid directly to bursary holders.
Upon graduation, bursary holders may be offered with employment opportunities by the SAPOA and/or its partner companies through the Graduate Development Programme. However, employment opportunities from the association is not guaranteed and SAPOA has no obligation to provide employment to bursary holders.
SAPOA Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
- South African citizenship
- Current students or applicants who are registered as students for a property-related qualification at a CHE accredited Institution in South Africa
- Post-graduate students/applicants are not eligible except for certain qualifications which will award the applicant registration in the property industry
- Academic excellence
- Proven financial need

- Attach certified copies of ALL of the following documents to your application form:
- Recent matric certificate (Grade 12)
- Acceptance letter from an accredited institution
- Latest official academic transcript or record
- Recent South African ID
- Recent breadwinner/parent/guardian valid South African ID
- 1 – 2 pages of personal statement
- Two letters of recommendation
- Written verification of the accredited programme’s average costs for one academic year
- A detailed CV which includes work experiences and backgrounds
