About Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality
The Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality was founded by its namesake, the late Elias Motsoaledi. He was born on July 26, 1924 in Nebo, Sekhukhune land. When he turned 17, he traveled to Johannesburg in search of employment. He played an active role in the establishment of the South African Congress of trade unions, in the Defiance Campaign that took place in 1952, and the Johannesburg Regional UmkhontoweSizwe.
Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality’s mission is to ensure the provision of sustainable services, to deepen democracy through public participation and communication, to guarantee provision of services in a transparent, fair, and accountable manner, to provide public value for money, and to create a conducive environment for job creation and economic growth.
Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality Bursary
The Local Municipality of Elias Motsoaledi is awarding bursaries to deserving young students who display competitive academic performance. The bursary will only cover the registration fees; other expenses and fees must be shouldered by the applicant.
There is only a limited number of bursaries available. Should you not receive any correspondence within 30 days from the closing date, please regard your application unsuccessful.
Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
In order to be considered for the bursary, applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria:
- South African citizen
- A resident of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality
- Received provisional acceptance letter from the Public Institution of Higher Learning and Further Education and Training, Universities, Universities of Technology, and FET/TVET Colleges in RSA
Please be advised that preference will be given to previously disadvantaged applicants.
How to Apply and Application Details
Application forms can be obtained at the Main and Satellite Offices at Hlogotlou, Motetema, Roosenekal, and Uitspanning starting from 7:30 a.m. up to 4:15 p.m.

Filled-out application forms must be submitted along with certified copies of the following documents:
- ID document (not older than 3 months)
- Proof of Residence (endorsed by the Municipality)
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (affidavit if there is no income)
- A recent statement of Results
- Acceptance letter from the post-school education and training institute
