WSP Global Inc. is a Canadian company providing management and consultancy services to global clients. Founded in 1959, it operates primarily in the built and natural environment sector, which includes buildings, energy, infrastructure, resources, properties, etc. Before WSP, they were part of multiple mergers, acquisitions, and name changes before settling on WSP Global Inc.
The company has offices across the globe, including South Africa. WSP also has a vested interest in giving back to the community. It offers bursaries to South African students who are in need of financial aid.
WSP Bursary 2022
The WSP bursary is meant for students in South Africa who are pursuing their Bachelor’s or Honours degrees and require financial aid for education. The bursary aims to improve the South African labor market by supplying qualified professionals while helping unfortunate students gain valuable skills.
For the academic year 2022, the students must be pursuing any of the following qualifications:
- BSc Environmental Sciences (either undergraduate or Honours)
- BEng/BSc/BIng Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering
The value of the bursaries will be decided on a case-by-case basis. After being awarded, students will have to undertake vacation work on holidays at Golder. This is compulsory for all bursars.
Upon completion of the study programme, bursars might be offered work contracts at WSP depending on vacancies and academic performance.
Bursary Eligibility Criteria
WSP has laid out specific eligibility criteria for students who want to apply for the bursary programme. Everyone applying for the funding must fulfill all the criteria. Failing to do so will result in the cancellation of your application. Therefore, always cross-check before applying.
The eligibility requirements for the WSP bursary 2021-22 are:
General Qualifications:
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Applicants with the previously disadvantaged background will be given preference
Engineering Bursary applicants:
If you are a passionate and dedicated Engineering student, currently enrolled for a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical engineering and meet the following further requirements, please send us your application.
- Studying in the 2nd, 3rd or Final year of your BEng / BSc (Eng) / BIng Engineering degree.
- Minimum 65% overall average and passed all subjects for your 2021 academic year to date.
- Should not be in receipt of another bursary or scholarship to be eligible.
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, but all South African Citizens are welcome to apply.
Environmental Science Bursary applicants:
If you are a passionate and dedicated Environmental Sciences student, currently enrolled for a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Honours) and meet the following further requirements, please send us your application.
- You must be In the 2nd, 3rd or Honours year of your BSc Environmental Sciences Degree.
- Achieved a minimum average of 70% and passed all subjects for your 2021 academic year to date.
- Should not be in receipt of another bursary or scholarship to be eligible.
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, but all South African Citizens are welcome to apply.
Student must have the following key competencies/generic skills:
- Demonstrate a sense of community

- Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback
- Work well under pressure, managing stress and maintaining resilience as necessary

- Entry level demonstration of leadership skills
Fulfilling all the criteria, however, doesn’t guarantee funding. Preference is given to students who belong to a previously disadvantaged background. Also, those who are competent, possess leadership skills, are client-focused, and are innovative thinkers will be given preference.
How to Apply?
If you fulfill all the requirements, move forward with the application process and apply for the bursary. It’s a simple process that must be done online. It’s a short one as well and shouldn’t take more than an hour to complete. But you should take your own time and not rush through the process. Documents Required
The next step is to submit the documents needed for this bursary. These are used for verification purposes and to process your application. Here are the documents you’d have to prepare and submit:
- ID documents (certified copies only)
- Matric certificate (certified copies only)
- Proof of registration at the university (certified copies only)
- Progress report or most recent academic transcripts (certified copies only)
- Updated CV with contact details (phone number and email address)
- A declaration admitting that you’re not receiving funds from any bursary or scholarship
