The Weir Minerals Africa Bursary Programme 2022
The company sponsors certain students every year who are in need of financial assistance to complete their education.
For the academic year 2022, Weir will award bursaries to students who are interested in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
The bursary will pay for the following expenses incurred by the student:
- Full tuition cost
- Prescribed books
- Accommodation
There will also be a monthly allowance for all eligible students. Furthermore, students will have to engage in 6 to 8 months of vacation work every year to enhance their skills.
The amount isn’t paid in full at once. Instead, it’s renewed each year based on the academic performance of the previous year. So if the performance is found to be insufficient, the bursary coverage might be cancelled.
After completing bursary-funded education, students will have to work for Weir for a period equal to when they received the funding. This is part of their “Graduate Development Framework” that prepares college graduates for the workforce.
Before receiving the funding, bursars will have to sign a contract agreeing to the above requirements.

The Weir bursary is open to all. But to be selected, you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria. Weir receives thousands of applications each year. So it selects the candidates based on several factors, of which eligibility requirements are a part.
