The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) is inviting applications for the position of Usher Messenger at the Free State Division of the High Court in Bloemfontein. - Salary: R163,680 – R192,810 per annum (Level 03)
- Location: Free State Division of the High Court, Bloemfontein
- Contract: The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 10/ABET (NQF Level 2).
- Experience: No prior experience required, though a minimum of one (1) year of relevant exposure to a court environment is an added advantage.
- Other: A valid driver’s license.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Client orientation and customer focus.
- Time management and attention to detail.
- Flexibility, accuracy, confidence, and the ability to work under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an Usher Messenger, you will play a vital role in supporting court operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Escorting Judges to courtrooms.
- Providing administrative support to Judges and courtroom staff.
- Maintaining courtrooms and courtroom records.
- Ensuring the smooth running of courtrooms.
- Collecting and distributing post, parcels, files, and other documents.
- Photocopying official documents and making copies of court rolls for distribution.
- Being present in court during sessions.
- Performing general messenger duties and assisting in the general office when required.
