About HWSETA
The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) is an organization that is responsible for the education and skills development of the health and social development sectors. This is in line with HWSETA’s mission to provide quality health and social services in world-class levels. HSWETA also aims to provide people with a better life and holds integrity, transparency, transformation and service excellence as core values.
HWSETA Postgraduate Bursaries
The HWSETA inviting applicants who are full time South African students continuing Postgraduate (Honours, Masters, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral) studies at to apply for the Postgraduate bursary scheme.
Any areas of study that falls within the Health and Social Development discipline will be considered, however, preference will be given to research proposals that are included in the following fields:
- Disability – youth, child, elderly and mental health care
- Infant Mortality – ethical and legal issues
- Epidemiology and clinical leadership – possible control of diseases and other factors relating to health
- Demography and population studies – births, deaths or the incidence of disease
- Environmental health and Work safety
- Primary Health Care
- Information, Communications and Technology in the health division
- Health Economics and Labour Market studies
- Contemporary social development issues
- Integration of African indigenous medicine into the mainstream and modern health care services
The HWSETA bursary will be granted according to the academic merit, research scope and relevance to the health sector, research publication potential and research potential innovation and impact.
HWSETA Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
- South African citizenship
- Full-time students pursuing Honours, Masters, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral studies at South African universities
- Applicants who are studying or pursuing studies in the Health and Social Development areas
- Honours students who wish to pursue studies that will lead to professional registration and licensing such
- Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply
