About Gold One

Gold One Group Limited is a South African-based mining company with operations mainly focused on Southern Africa. In South Africa, it operates the gold mine of Springs located in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality under the name Gold Springs Resource Corp. Situated 30 km from Johannesburg, the site has existing resources of 874,000 oz gold equivalent. In 2009, the Modder East mine was also commissioned to Gold One. The company recently acquired Rand Uranium and thus expanded into uranium mining. In future, it aims to recover uranium, gold, and sulphur from sites like Cooke Tailings Dam.

Gold One Bursary 2022

Gold One is offering financial assistance to a certain number of students every year via bursaries. These are intended to help unprivileged and meritorious students who lack access to education because of financial constraints. The bursaries also strengthen the labor market of South Africa by supplying qualified students.

For the academic session 2022, here are the fields of study where the Gold One bursaries will be awarded:

• Finance
• Geological and Earth Sciences
• Mining Engineering
• Metallurgical Science
• Mechanical Engineering

Other fields of study are also considered but are subject to the approval of the selection committee.

The bursary is open to students who reside within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipal area. This includes the towns/cities, namely, Alberton, Benoni, Bedfordview, Birchleigh, Boksburg, Brakpan, Clayville, Daveyton, Dunnottar, Edenvale, Geduld, Germiston, Katlehong, Kempton Park, Kwa-Thema, Machenzieville, Nigel, Springs, Tembisa, Tokoza, Vosloorus, and Vorsterkroon.

The bursary will cover certain expenses like examination fees, tuition fees, and prescribed textbooks. Bursars studying full-time and staying in a university-administered accommodation will also receive coverage for accommodation costs. However, it will not pay for certain expenses like short course fees, meals, or transportation. Students are expected to pay for these costs.

Shortlisted candidates will receive more information regarding the value of the bursary. They will be asked to attend screening interviews before being selected as bursars. If you do not receive any communication within 30 days, consider your application rejected.

Eligibility Criteria For The Gold One Bursary

To be selected for the bursary programme, you must fulfill the eligibility criteria laid out by Gold One. Since there are a limited number of bursaries, it can’t award them to everyone. Failing to meet any of the requirements will lead to rejection. Therefore, always cross-check with the criteria before applying.

The eligibility requirements for Gold One Bursary 2022 are:

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must be a resident of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipal area
• Must be either studying or have registered to study towards a qualification in one of the aforementioned fields of study
• Must be either studying or have registered to study at a recognised tertiary institution
• Must have a clean criminal record
• Must have a strong academic track record

Fulfilling all the requirements, however, doesn’t guarantee funding. Those who reside within the mine host communities, namely, in Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, and Nigel, will get preference over others. The list of bursars published by Gold One will be considered final.

Eligible students are encouraged to move forward with the application process and apply for the Gold One Bursary 2022. It’s a short process that’s done entirely online. You don’t have to download or send in paper forms. But it’s important to be diligent and careful since incorrect submissions are not considered. Here are the steps involved in applying for this bursary programme:

The first step is to submit the Gold One Bursary Online application form. Read through the instructions and click on the ‘Apply‘ button to get started. It will ask you certain questions about yourself, the academic details, and income details. Submit correct answers and move into the next step.

In the second step, you’d have to prepare and upload the following documents to the online portal:

• ID documents (certified copies)
• Proof of registration at the tertiary institution (certified copies)
• Quotation of expenses incurred (certified copies)
• Proof of income of parents or guardians (payslips if employed; affidavit if unemployed; proof of grants or pension if applicable)
• Proof of residence (certified copies)
