About The Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR)
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, the Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR) was founded in 2006 as a non-profit organization. The CPGR is an initiative of the DSI (South African Department of Science and Innovation) and is supported financially by the TIA (Technology Innovation Agency).
CPGR consists of a dedicated team of exceptional and highly-knowledgeable scientists committed to finding and providing scientific and technical solutions for all proteomic and genomic projects in accordance with strict quality management standards. To deliver products according to regulatory, development, and commercial requirements, the team uses modern, integrated technologies.
Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR) Bursary 2022
For the academic year 2022, the Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR), is offering bursary funding to students and applications are invited for the same.
This bursary is available to students pursuing postgraduate degrees (BSc Hons, BTech, MSc, or PhD) in the following fields:
- Biological Science
- Bioinformatics
- Biotechnology
- Medical Biochemistry
- Genetics/ Human Genetics
- Medical Bioscience
- Molecular/ Cell Biology
- Biochemistry / Microbiology
The bursary is intended to cover the following costs (either full or partial): tuition fees, registration fees, and cost of prescribed materials.
Students will be covered by the bursary for the whole duration of their registered degree programme, provided they pass all of their registered subjects and follow the rules of the contract given in CPGR bursary programme.
The CPGR will require students to serve 1 year after graduation for each year they receive funding.
Eligibility Criteria For The CPGR Bursary
All applicants willing to apply for the Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR) 2022 must meet the given below minimum entry criteria (note here that your application will not be considered if you do not satisfy all the requirements):
- You must be a citizen of South Africa
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 29
- Your undergraduate degree must have been completed
- The applicant must be enrolled or intend to enroll in a postgraduate program in at least one of the above fields for the year 2022
- A student must be currently studying or intend to study at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution
- Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply
How to Apply For The CPGR Bursary?
Eligible candidates are required to submit their completed online application form along with the supporting documents mentioned below before the closing date. Note that incomplete application forms or late applications will not be considered.

Along with your online application, you will need to upload all the below mentioned supporting documentation (all documentation must be submitted – applications without documents or missing documents may get disqualified):
- Certified copy of your ID document
- Certified copy of highest qualification statement (master’s, honors, or undergraduate)
- Certified copy of your address proof
- Disability proof, if applicable (certified copy)
Closing Date Of The CPGR Bursary
The last date of application is 28 February Annually. After this date, no applications will be considered.
