Basil Read Bursaries
Basil Read grants educational financial assistance through the bursary to students who are eager and have skills for the built environment. Such individuals see the purpose and importance of infrastructure to society and seek to contribute to a sustainable future. Students must have been at least in their second year of study in fields such as Civil Engineering (B. Eng / BSc), Quantity Surveying (BSc / BSc Hons) and Mining Engineering (B. Eng / BSc / National Diploma).
About Basil Read
Basil Read was founded by Mr. Basil Leonard Read back in 1952 as a small construction firm. The company is subdivided into divisions such as Construction (Civil/Plants and Buildings), Housing Development, Mining and Public Roads. It also constructs and maintains the St. Helena airport. Basil Read’s milestones include JSE listing in 1987 as well as the inclusion in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies Survey in 2008 and 2009.
Basil Read Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Good academic records
- Excellent ratings in Mathematics and Science
- Second up to later year full-time students in the fields of , Quantity Surveying and at accredited South African institutions
- Possess build environment interests and ability
