As of February 2025, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) offers several training programs for graduates interested in pursuing careers in tax and finance. Below are the minimum requirements for these programs:

1. Graduate Development Programme:

• Educational Qualification: A minimum of a three-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7 or higher).
• Experience: No prior work experience is required.
• Age: SARS encourages applications from individuals between the ages of 18 and 35.

This program aims to develop a high-performing, diverse, agile, and engaged workforce aligned with SARS’s strategic objectives.

2. Chartered Accountant Training Programme:

• Educational Qualification: Applicants should have completed or be in the final year of a SAICA-accredited Chartered Accountancy qualification.
• Experience: No prior work experience is required.
• Additional Requirements: Candidates must meet the competencies outlined by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

This program is designed to develop future leaders in finance and accounting within SARS.

3. Tax Practitioner Readiness Programme:
